Explore the history of Frankfort with Stories of Town and Harbor, a 1 mile long walking route that leads visitors to 9 historically significant sites. Let FrankfortHistory.org be your companion as you walk along the path. The tour is compatible with wireless devices, and contains stories, photographs and audio files that are relevant to each site.
This self-guided tour begins at the green space between Second Street and the western shore of Betsie Bay. The path leads around the Fr. Marquette Circle to the Lake Michigan Beach and the North Pier Light. From the beach, the path will direct you into the residential district and then on to Main Street. The final portion of the trail takes you along the Harbor on the Betsie Valley Trail concluding at the Open Space near the Farmers Market site and Library. The walk should take you approximately one hour to complete.
A crowd funding grant has been awarded to the City of Frankfort to place interpretive signage and markers along the walking path. To support this project and learn more, visit here.
